The New York Space Agency (NYSA) is a collaborative project dedicated to understanding the spaces we inhabit and reimagining our shared relationship with them. By identifying spatial contradictions and inequalities in New York and cities around the world, we aim to envision a new urban landscape: one built to meet community needs rather than exclusively serve economic interests.

We will explore how spaces appear in our perception, imagination, and memory, and offer alternative methods of understanding the city and being within it. As emerging planners, writers, artists, and residents with a stake in our city, we are committed to simultaneous imagination and action, to taking real steps now towards creating spaces that reflect our collective aspirations for the future.

NYSA will serve as a third space for ideas, providing a hybrid publishing platform to make room for writing, art, and music from our community. We plan to produce a print magazine, develop a shared digital space, support music that explores the architecture of sound, and host events and actions to foster creative engagement and dialogue about spatial justice.
